As a mother of two elementary school kids, I find myself spending massive amounts of time helping my kids with their homework. The teachers at this school expects parents to look at their planners and closely monitor their work.  But, I'm wondering how much is too much?  The thing is, if I don't...it just doesn't get done...or my kids just don't understand it enough to do it themselves.  They both need to read the social studies and science text outloud to me, or they loose focus, and can't answer the questions. And the math...forget about it.  I wonder if the teacher ever explains this stuff, or they're just asleep during the lesson.  Sometimes I feel like I'm actually homeschooling them for 3 hours after they've just spend 6 1/2 hours at school.  How much time do you spend helping your kids with homework and, more importantly, how involved do you get?
