About Mom-Tales

Welcome to Mom-Tales.com! I started this site because I’m a mother of twins and I have a story to tell. And, my guess is you have a story to tell too. Sometimes us moms begin to think that no one else knows how unbelievably difficult…and how incredible delightful parenting can be. Sometimes we feel we can’t even tell our best friend our parenting stories because we may sound too wildly ecstatic, or we’re afraid we’d be bragging, or our children might sound too horrible (wow your kid does that?). But this is no fairy-tale. It’s real. It’s now. It’s us. It’s our Mom-Tale.

The quasi-anonymity of a site like this allows us parents the freedom to tell it like it is. We’ve all got stories of impossibly long days filled with whiney, fitful, fearful offspring as well as tales of our hearts bursting open with love. We’ve got stories of moments we’re awe-struck at how smart, talented, beautiful, spiritually adept and “wise-beyond-their-years” our children are.

Don’t keep it to yourself. This is the place to share the story you’ve been dying to tell someone. Tell us your worse days, your fears, your joys, your inspiration. Some mom, somewhere wants to hear your story. She wants to know that she’s not the only one. She wants to know there is another mom somewhere experiencing the same challenges and joys you are. It helps us connect. It makes life rich. And if we’re in a challenging place with our kids, it can give us the courage to face another day of parenting.

you_earned_it.jpgBRAND NEW GIVEAWAY!...From the official launch date and press release date via PRWeb, (October 26, 2009) we are offering this free give away: THE FIRST 100 PEOPLE TO POST THEIR STORY RECEIVE A FREE COPY of Victoria's "You've Earned It Kid!" A Positive Reward System for Kids.

So, share your day of parenting with us. Read and add your comments to others’ stories. Then, come back and share more tomorrow, because I know that, by this time tomorrow, you’ll have another true Mom-tale to tell!

Here’s how it works…

Submit Your Story

You must login or register as a member to submit your story, or to comment on others (this will help spare us from spammers.) Also, all stories are reviewed by us first before being posted. (This will prevent inappropriate content.)

Click on the Submit Your Story button. Enter a title for your story and your name. Then, just start typing away. You can also cut and paste from a word document. You’ll see you have a full editor there and can even upload your photos and video (from YouTube.) Then, chose a Category from one of the following three categories. You must click the Author’s Agreement before hitting the submit button. (It’s just a standard form that basically says you are the author and we can post your story.)

Inspiring: Choose Inspiring if you have a funny story to tell, or want to share some amazing moment from your parenting life that will help lighten the spirit and inspire other moms.

Challenges: Choose Challenges if you want to share some exasperating time you’ve recently had with your children (we all have them)…those moments when you feel like you just don’t know what to do…and where the heck is the parenting manual anyway?! Don’t be shy. Some mom, somewhere, will relate to this and may have found a solution she tried and will enter it in the comment section.

What Works: Choose What Works when you want to share a challenging experience you’ve had and then you tried something and it actually worked. You can ask all the “parenting experts” in the world their advice, but until that expert has been there in your shoes and figured out a technique that actually works with your children, all that advice is just that…advice. That’s why this column will be so valuable to other mothers. Of course, not every technique works in every case…all children are different…all situations are different…but it could be that one thing you share which another mom will relate to, try, and have success with. Won’t that feel good?

Submit Your Article

This section is for budding writers as well as professional writers alike, who have an article about a specific area of parenting they’d like to post. The directions are the same as Submit Your Story, with the exception of the “Categories”. Choose a category from the drop down menu that is as close a match to your topic as possible. You can also suggest a new category to us and we’ll add it. Make sure to read the editorial guidelines and agree to the Author’s Agreement you’ll find here.

Share Your Recommendations

If you’ve tried a product you felt was superior, or read a book that was helpful to you as a parent, this is the place to let everyone know about it. Write a brief description of the product or book, tell us where you found it (and where we can find it,) how much it cost, and specifically what you liked about it, or how it helped you. You can also post an image of it utilizing the editor tool.

About the Founder, Victoria Loveland-Coen

Life Coach, author, speaker and seminar leader Victoria Loveland-Coen has facilitated workshops and classes on topics ranging from "Balancing Life with a New Baby" to "Expressing Your Authentic Self" to "Inspired Intention." As a speaker, Victoria has inspired achievement in audiences from the business community as well as non-profit organizations and parenting groups. Victoria’s first book, Manifesting Your Desires, has recently been revised, updated and converted to an eBook format complete with audio downloads of the exercises and processes (You can find her Manifesting Your Desires Platinum Program at www.ManifestingYourGood.com and her blog on the Law of Attraction at www.ManifestYourGood.wordpress.com)

Like many career women today, Victoria's intention to start a family later in life proved challenging. Happily, in 1999, after five years of trying to conceive, she finally gave birth to two healthy baby girls. After some initial difficulties in bonding with her twins, Victoria got creative and began to put together a collection of games, stories and fun activities to help strengthen the bond with her babies. It worked. The collection became her second book, The Baby Bonding Book: 50 Ways to Connect with Your Infant and the companion Baby Bonding Audiobook (with guided relaxation exercise for new moms.) Both are the offspring of her commitment to support and inspire women during the most miraculous, yet challenging time of their lives — motherhood.

Next, came a collection of humorous and practically helpful coupon gift booklets entitled, Give A Little Love. These were born out of the awareness that humor, along with practical support, are essential to joyful parenting. The collection, which includes four coupon gift books for expectant moms and new moms which mom can redeem from her friends and family, plus one for kids (The “You’ve Earned It” Reward System for Kids.)

Mom-Tales.com is her third and most successful website to date. Victoria resides in a Chapel Hill, North Carolina with her husband, writer/producer Dana Coen, and their twin girls, who are now indefatigable pre-teens.
